Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of Sohag University, honored the team work on the environmentally friendly university file participating in the International ranking of Sustainable Universities “UI GreenMetric” for 2023, for their efforts in making the university obtain first place at the level of Egyptian and African universities in the facilities and infrastructure standard, and achieving the 320th position among 1,183 international universities, and eighth place out of 40 African universities, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Dr. Hamdy Hassanein, Dean of faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, Director of the Center of Sustainable Development, and General Coordinator of the University’s Environmentally Friendly File and a group of staff members who supervise standards, and members of the administrative staff involved in compiling, coordinating, and translating data.
At the beginning of honoring, Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani expressed his thanks and appreciation to the team work participating in this great achievement, which contributed to the advancement of the university’s name at the international, African and Egyptian levels, which reflects the development of the university in all its sectors, and its fulfillment of all standards and requirements for excellence, which confirms the extent of the university’s awareness of the importance Preserving the green environment, and applying the concepts and goals of sustainable development in light of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Dr. Hamdy Hassanein emphasized the important role played by all participants in preparing the files, including the staff members, the standards supervisors, and the assistant administrative staff, as well as the presence of a sustainability center at the university that has a website on the information network in Arabic and English, as well as a page on “Facebook” in both languages as well, which are updated periodically to spread environmental awareness and sustainable development goals among university employees and the surrounding community.
