Sohag University Council held its 219th session, chaired by Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of the University, and attended by Major General Samir Farag, Strategic Expert, Dr. Abdel Nasser Youssef, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Accountant Ashraf El-Qady, Secretary General of the University, and deans of faculties.
Al-Nomany began the council by extending his thanks and appreciation to Major General Samir Farag, the strategic expert and former Director of Morale Affairs, for attending the first session of the University Council after his accession to the Council, in order to benefit from his extensive experience in public work and his prominent role in national issues, stressing that Major General Samir Farag is one of the distinguished national figures.
He has contributed greatly to the nation, and has a strategic vision based on scientific and objective facts regarding many national issues, which enhances the value of his joining the University Council.
Major General Samir Farag expressed his happiness at joining the Sohag University Council and attending its first session.
He praised the university’s academic and educational role and its scientific capabilities and expertise, which have made it a beacon of knowledge and enlightenment in Upper Egypt.
He also commended the university’s achievements in the fields of literacy and digital creativity.
Al-Nomany said that the council approved a number of important decisions, including the approval of the establishment of a company to market the outputs of scientific research and consulting services and to invest in intellectual and technical assets at Sohag University, which contributes to supporting innovation and economic development, and the approval of the regulations for Afro-Asian studies at Faculty of Arts and submitting them to the Arts Sector of the Supreme Council of Universities.
In addition to approving the communication with the Nursing Sector Committee to begin the internship training period for th2 students of the Technical Nursing Institute who graduated from the January and June semesters, due to the implementation of the unified credit hour regulations for the programs of the Technical Nursing Institutes.
Al-Nommany added that the Council also approved on the establishment of a digital scientific magazine for the undergraduate students in faculty of Nursing, and the establishment of a magazine for faculty of Computers and Information, in addition to approving the proposal of the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Chemistry in the College of Science, so that all mathematics courses for expatriate students enrolled in postgraduate studies to be taught via distance learning based on the student’s desire, and approval of the proposed diploma in environmental impact assessment of projects at the Faculty of Science.
