Al-Nomany inaugurates the First Scientific Conference of the Department of Curricula and Physical Education Teaching at Faculty of Sports Sciences

Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of Sohag University, inaugurated the first scientific conference of the Department of Curricula and Teaching of Physical Education at Faculty of Sports Sciences, which was held under the slogan “Research Areas and Interdisciplinary Research in School Sports in Accordance with the Changes of the Era.”

This was attended by Dr. Abdel Nasser Yassin, Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice Presidents of the University, Dr. Mona Mustafa Yahya, Advisor to the Minister of Education for Physical and Military Education, and Dr. Walaa Abdel Fattah Ahmed, Member of the House of Representatives for the Youth and Sports Committee.

Engineer Mohamed Labib, Member of Parliament, Brigadier General Dr. Walid Al-Hilali, Advisor to the Chairman of the Sports Authority for Military Sports Schools, and a group of staff members from the Faculties of Sports Sciences at Assiut, Tanta, New Valley, South Valley, and Sohag Universities.

In his speech, Dr. Hassan Al-Nomany welcomed the conference guests, thanking them for enduring the hardships of travel to participate in this distinguished conference.

He also thanked the faculty students at the for their keenness to participate in the faculty’s first scientific conference, stressing that the university continuously supports scientific events and conferences that keep pace with the latest developments, especially in the field of sports science, which represents the cornerstone in building the student’s personality and developing their physical and mental abilities.

 

Al-Nomany praised the fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Youth and Sports in implementing various sports activities and projects, noting that the university is currently witnessing the implementation of a group of new sports facilities as part of its plan to develop the sports infrastructure.

This is in line with the Egyptian state’s development strategy, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, including the international sports hall, which is being built on an area of ​​26 thousand meters at a cost exceeding one billion pounds.

In addition to the sports city, the semi-Olympic educational swimming pool at the university’s old campus, and other facilities, the goal is to support sports activities and provide a healthy and safe environment for university students and the governorate’s youth.

Dr. Moamen Abdel Aziz, Dean of the faculty, explained that the conference aims to shed light on the most prominent research issues related to school sports, and to discuss the challenges facing the educational process and sports activities within the educational institutions, through specialized topics covering physical, psychological, administrative and technological aspects.

He pointed out that school sports

is the cornerstone of building a student’s integrated personality, as it is not limited to physical development alone, but also contributes to strengthening discipline, instilling values, and developing social and psychological skills, making it an integral part of the comprehensive educational process.

In the same context, Dr. Taha Muhammad Al-Sayyid, Head of the Department of Curricula and Physical Education Teaching and Chairman of the Conference, pointed out that the conference activities included a discussion of the reality of school sports and what is expected of them, sports movement sciences, camps and recreational programs, in addition to reviewing the role of psychological sciences in supporting the practice of sports. The relationship between school sports and students’ functional fitness and physical safety, in addition to discussing the use of artificial intelligence applications in scientific research and teaching.

The conference included a documentary film about the state’s efforts in the sports sector, the development of Sohag University’s sports infrastructure, and an introductory video about the Department of Curricula and Physical Education Teaching.
