A Scientist at Sohag University and his Research Team invented a Solar-Powered Water Desalination Device

Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of Sohag University, expressed his thanks and appreciation to President El-Sisi for his unprecedented support for scientists and researchers to develop the field of scientific research, encourage innovation, and direct scientific research to serve the community, in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development. He congratulated the research team at the university, led by Dr. Ahmed Askalani, Professor at Faculty of Technology and Education, as he has successfully developed a new water desalination device that uses solar energy as a power source without the need for electricity, making it an excellent solution for providing water to remote and desert areas.

Al-Nomany praised Dr. Ahmed Askalani, who was awarded the State incentive Award and the First Class Medal of Excellence for his efforts in the field of renewable energy, and the research team involved for their significant efforts in this field. He explained that the research team received more than 5 million Egyptian pounds from the Egyptian state to continue the scientific research in this field, which helped achieve this scientific achievement.

Al-Nomany said that the new device was entirely designed and built by Egyptian hands in the laboratories of Sohag University, with funding from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, headed by Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour.

He explained that one of the device’s advantages is that it relies on new, environmentally friendly technology, eliminating the need for conventional fuel.
