Sustainability Unit at Faculty of Arts organizes an Educational Seminar about Green Transformation and Sustainable Innovation

The Sustainability Unit at Faculty of Arts, Sohag University, in cooperation with the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, organized an educational seminar entitled “Green Transformation: Sustainable Innovation and Green Entrepreneurship,” in the presence of Dr. Bahaa Othman, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Hamdy Hassanein, Director of the Sustainable Development Center, Dr. Hala Hafez, Coordinator of the Sustainability Unit at the Faculty, and a number of staff members and students.

In this regard, Dr. Hassan Al-Nomany, President of the University, praised the efforts of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector and the Sustainable Development Center, and their important role in spreading the culture of sustainable development and green transformation, shedding light on the idea of ​​entrepreneurship and freelancing, and encouraging young people to create innovative ideas that contribute to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.

This is within the framework of the sustainable development strategy and Egypt’s Vision 2030, stressing that the Egyptian state is moving steadily towards the transition to a sustainable green economy to ensure a better future for future generations.

Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, explained that the symposium is part of a series of awareness and educational symposia organized by the sector in cooperation with the Center of Sustainable Development and all units in various faculties, adding that the symposiums aim to change behaviors, spread environmental awareness, and encourage students to innovate and participate in green entrepreneurship projects, which helps develop natural resources and preserve the environment to ensure its sustainability.

From his part, Dr. Mohamed Tawfik, Dean of the faculty, said that the symposium aimed to shed the light on the green transformation as one of the development issues that the state has recently adopted, as this transformation represents a promising opportunity to achieve economic development in many vital sectors, pointing out the necessity of investing in human capital as the way to exploit resources in the best possible way.

During the symposium, Dr. Hamdy Hassanein reviewed the presidential initiatives launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, related to sustainability, including “Prepare for Green”, the National Strategy for Climate Change, the National Strategy for Smart Cities, and the National Strategy for Green Transformation, explaining some concepts related to sustainable development, green transformation, recycling, and rationalization of water use, in addition to talking about the importance of innovation and the necessity of discovering and supporting talented people, by providing the necessary funding to complete projects and improve the work environment.
