Sohag University organized for the first time a visit to the Egyptian Court of Cassation and Cairo Court of Appeal for the
students of the Faculty of Law, as part of the university’s keenness to enhance and refine students’ skills, increase their legal awareness culture, and integrate the theoretical and practical aspects in the study of law to qualify them for the labor market after graduation.
Dr. Hassan Al-Nomany, President of the University, stressed the importance of such visits for the students of faculty of law, especially since the law specialization requires students to be closely acquainted with real issues, which contributes to developing their legal skills and enhancing their ability to manage sessions, the right to defense, advocacy, keeping up with the labor market and becoming educated in the real practical framework.
He added that the Egyptian Court of Cassation is the highest court in the Arab Republic of Egypt, and represents the top of the judicial pyramid, and its mission is to work to unify the application of the law in Egyptian courts.
Dr. Abdel Nasser Youssef, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, stressed the great importance of student activities that contribute to shaping the students’ personalities, which are not complete without visiting important institutions. He added that the student delegation began its visit by attending a session of one of the Court of Cassation’s circuits to see how the Court of Cassation’s sessions proceed practically, which contributes to adding a realistic dimension to what students study at the faculty.
Dr. Rabeh Rateb, the former dean of the faculty, explained that during the visit, a lecture was presented about the history of the court and the jurisdictions of both the technical office and the cassation prosecution, which was lectured by Counselor Tarek Abdel Jalil, Vice President of the Court of Cassation and Head of the Technical Office.
The delegation also visited the New Cairo Appeal Mission to attend a session in Circuit 20 Criminal, headed by Counselor Ali Ahmed Saqr and the membership of Counselor Abdel Monsef Ismail, Counselor Essam Bakkar, and Counselor Siddiq Muhammad Rafqi.

At the end of the visit, the delegation was honored to be hosted by Counselor Gamal Abdel Rahman, a member of the technical office and head of the New Cairo Appeal Mission, during which many topics were discussed and students’ inquiries were answered.
It is worth noting that the visit was organized in cooperation between Students for Egypt team, headed by Dr. Alaa Ghaleb, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and the Student Union of the Faculty of Law.
