Natural Preparations for Treating Eczema, Psoriasis and Arthritis. Graduation Projects for Students of the Department of Pharmacology at Faculty of Pharmacy

Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of Sohag University, witnessed the discussion of the graduation project of the ninth batch of students of the Department of Pharmacognosy at Faculty of Pharmacy, which was held on the sidelines of the “Scientific Day for Natural Products”, which was organized by the department in cooperation with the University’s Sustainability Unit, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Nasser Youssef, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Allam Abdel Moneim, Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Mohamed Salah

Dr. Mohamed Gamal, the faculty’s deans, Dr. Hamdy Hassanein, director of the Sustainable Development Unit, Dr. Mustafa Abu Al-Ezz, coordinator of the clinical pharmacy program at the faculty, and a group of the staff members and their assistants.

Al-Nomany praised the student projects he saw, handcrafted from 100% natural materials, which were extracted in the faculty’s laboratories and the final image was prepared for them, to serve as green entrepreneurship projects.

This is within the framework of the trend towards natural herbal medicines, which help reduce their side effects and maintain human health,

wishing the students continued success and prosperity in continuing to gain knowledge and develop their skills in the pharmaceutical field.

Dr. Abdel Nasser Youssef added that the scientific day’s activities are part of a series of student scientific activities implemented by the university. He praised the role of the Center for Sustainable Development and its units across the university’s faculties in introducing students to the presidential initiatives launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi related to sustainability, such as “Get Ready for Green” and the “National Strategy for Green Transition.”

Dr. Allam Abdel Moneim explained that this conference enhances students’ creative abilities, emphasizing that the university places special emphasis on the concept of going green and is committed to training students in green practices, which are part of Egypt’s national strategy for sustainable development.

He urged the  students to stay informed about the latest developments to keep pace with the tremendous progress in the pharmaceutical field.

Dr. Mohamed Salah El-Din added that the projects the students developed included the production of a cream for arthritis, a cream for treating eczema and psoriasis, herbs for treating high blood pressure and coughs, and natural cosmetics, based on what the students had studied in the Department of Pharmacology over the course of their four academic years.

Dr. Hamdy Hassanein pointed out that such events aim to explore students’ scientific capabilities and their ability to produce environmentally friendly projects, in light of the great interest the wise leadership attaches to sustainability issues and the protection of the environment and natural resources.

Dr. Heba Ali Hassan explained that the university president reviewed the various products and preparations prepared by the students, commending their efforts and urging them to continue developing their ideas to form companies that produce such preparations on a large scale.

These products are being tested on patients to test their effectiveness, and are being prepared for production and distribution to the local market.
