Dr. Hassan Al-Nomany, President of Sohag University, announced that the university achieved an unprecedented achievement in the field of scientific research during 2024. The number of research papers published in the Web of Science database reached approximately 880, the highest scientific publication rate in the university’s history, compared to 752 papers in 2023.
Dr. Hassan El-Nomany said that this achievement reflects Sohag University’s strategic vision to support scientific research and enhance its outcomes by providing a stimulating environment for researchers, enhancing cooperation with local and international research institutions, and developing the scientific research infrastructure in line with international quality standards.
Al-Nomany added that the university is working to develop advanced research areas, focusing on national priorities and emerging global trends, in an effort to consolidate its role as a center of scientific influence in Upper Egypt. The university also seeks to continue this scientific momentum in the coming years and achieve advanced positions in international rankings, thus enhancing its competitiveness and research leadership.
From his part, Dr. Amr Abdel Hamid, Director of the University’s Scientific Publishing Center, explained that physical sciences topped the most productive disciplines, followed by life sciences, engineering, and technology. Multidisciplinary materials sciences and chemistry also had a distinguished presence on the publishing lists.
