Sohag University Council held its 215th session today, headed by Dr. Hassan El-Nomany, President of the University, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Nasser Youssef, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Khaled Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Accountant Ashraf El-Qadi, Secretary General of the University, and deans of faculties.
Al-Nomany began the Council session by congratulating President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, on the occasion of the New Year 2025.
Al-Nomany expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the members of the Supreme Council of Universities for their first visit to the university and the convening of the Supreme Council of Universities on its grounds, and their praise for the achievements and distinguished openings they saw on the university.
Al-Nomany explained that the council approved a number of important topics, including adding a course called “Values and Ethics” to the Faculty of Arts for the first time in the Egyptian universities, to be among the recommended courses, in response to the initiative of President Sisi, a new beginning for building the Egyptian person.
The council also approved the protected agriculture program in English at the Faculty of Agriculture.
A special program with fees based on the recommendation of the Supreme Council of Universities, and the approval of the Digital Archaeology Diploma Regulations, a distinguished program with fees based on credit hours system (72 hours) for two academic levels between Faculties of Archaeology and Faculty of Computers and Artificial Intelligence.
Al-Nomany added that it was agreed to hold the final exam at Faculty of Medicine with a percentage of 75% in the multiple-choice system, and 25% in the short objective essay questions system, with approval of the proposed harmonization by Faculty of Medicine Council, and approval of the establishment of an international refereed journal for Faculty of Graduate Studies and Environmental Research, semi-annually in all branches of science and technology related to food, water, energy and environment sustainability, in addition to holding a number of awareness lectures for students in various faculties about rights and duties towards society.
