Sohag University signs a Cooperation Protocol with the Oncology Center in Sohag to Serve Mental Health and Psychological Support

Prof. Hassan Al-Nomany, President of Sohag University, signed a cooperation protocol between the Sohag Oncology Center and the university, where the center was represented by Dr. Hatem Mohamed Amin, Director of the Center and Head of the Executive Office of the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Abdel Latif Omran, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, in the Council Hall in old campus

Alnomani said that this cooperation aims to advance and improve the medical services system, by providing the necessary human power to cooperate with the center in operating the mental health and psychological support service, for the staff members, their assistants, and researchers at faculty of Education in the field of psychology and mental health, in a way that ensures providing psychological support services to patients and their families, raising the level of performance in the oncology treatment center, meeting the needs of patients, especially oncology patients, and reaching the ultimate goal of better mental health.

Alnomany added that, in accordance with the cooperation protocol, educational and awareness seminars and lectures will be held for patients and their families, and patients’ families will be acquainted with the knowledge and skills they should be familiar with in order to provide psychological and educational support to their sick children, as well as to service providers and providing them with the knowledge, skills and methods necessary to provide psychological and educational support to patients and their families, in a way that contributes to improving Quality and integrity of the service provided.

Dr. Khaled Omran explained that the protocol also included cooperation in the scientific and research field by conducting psychological and social research and studies carried out by staff members and their students, through master’s and doctoral theses in the specializations of educational psychology and mental health, and benefiting from the results of this research and its recommendations in solving the problems that the patient suffers from and raising the level of efficiency of the psychological, educational, medical and health services provided by the center to meet the needs of patients.
